JERNIE TO COUNTRY MUSIC STARDOM
- November 27, 2006 - Nashville, TN - Independent label, Mirrome Records recording artist, Jernie Talles, a 12-year-old singer from Fort Pierce, Florida, won the South Florida Colgate Country Showdown. She goes on to the state finals to be held in 2007.
The Colgate Country Showdown has grown over the past 25 years into the largest country music talent search in America. Each year, more than 450 local radio stations participate, 50,000 artists compete and over $300,000 in cash prizes are awarded throughout the 4-level competition. Nearly every major country music entertainer of the past 2 decades has participated in the Showdown. (www.countryshowdown.com)
Claiming the top spot among seven competitors, Jernie performed two original works, "High Performance Woman" and "Mama's Little Girl". Both songs appear on her debut album produced by Grammy Award winner Ron Cornelius at Funhouse Studios in Nashville. Of her first studio recording experience, the bright-eyed youngster exclaimed, "It was really cool. Everyone was so nice and I really had fun."
Jernie is set to open for Country stars Montgomery Gentry, Trade Adkins, Sugarland, Darryl Worley, Taylor Swift and JoDee Messina at the January 2007 KISS Country Chili Cook-Off in Pembroke Pines, Florida. She will perform at the St. Lucie County Fair in February.
Her tender age does not get in the way of Jernie's show stopping talent. She already charted a mighty list of credits including appearances on Pax TV's "Americas Most Talented Kids" and an edition of "The Maury Povich Show" that featured ultra-talented kids. Jernie has had the honor of singing the National Anthem for the New York Mets at Shea Stadium and for the Florida Marlins.
At every opportunity, the young star is already giving back. Jernie lends her time and talents to fundraising events for many philanthropic organizations, including The United Way, March of Dimes, Relay for Life, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and the St. Lucie County Community Memorial for September 11.
The Mirrome Records roster includes Miko Marks, recently awarded Best New Country Artist for 2006 by New Music Weekly Magazine, and Louisiana-based singer/songwriter Chris Gray.
