Singer lends a hand to Louisiana hometown

October 03, 2005, Nashville, TN - Mirrome Recording artist, Chris Gray, whose album "From Where I Am" was released this summer, fled Hammond, Louisiana prior to Hurricane Katrina, along with his wife and young children, and took refuge in Memphis.

The family returned to find minimal damage to their hometown, but was devastated to see the loss and destruction in neighboring communities. Chris didn't wait for power to be restored. He immediately had a posting placed on his web site, offering help to his community. Knowing that few folks had internet access in the aftermath, Gray and his band mates didn't wait for the requests to come in. They struck out with pickup trucks and saws and anything they could gather in order to help their neighbors. With so many performance dates cancelled in the region, the guys have gladly used their time to cut trees, haul debris and do anything possible to ease the suffering.

With blisters on their hands, the band will bring some cheer to Louisiana this Saturday doing what they do best once again. DOWN ON THE FARM will be a night under the stars and feature special guest, "American Idol" Lindsey Cardinale - on the site of "Old Farmers Day" Festival grounds, Brunette Farm in Loranger, LA (8pm). Bring your own blankets, chairs and Ice Chests for this one-of-a-kind party. Bring the kids too and dance under the stars! More info and directions: (985) 878-9343

Gray's single, "I Keep It Under My Hat" is enjoying airplay throughout small-medium sized markets. The album is available online and in stores now, including Wal-Mart.
